What are we doing here?

Just to clarify things!  I started this with a wordpress blog, but the polls section was really poor.  So, I've sort of transferred it.  I'll post on both sites, but for the time being the polls are here.  Sor far there are six of them - all in the sidebar.  Please take a moment to vote - and pass the word to as many as possible.  We need feedback from both sides of the 'counter' so to speak.

Thanks in advance

  1. Hello

Great idea, I've only been a member for 2 years & i'm in my thirties. From what I can see the EG is not embracing what the internet could do for the group, not encouraging young members to join, and I personally feel I am looked down upon as I'm not studying city & guilds. I'm sure other people have other gripes!

  3. Hi I thought I would leave a comment as there was nowhere to answer for me. I am a textiles teacher and love textiles but I am not a member of the embroider's guild even though I advocate it for my kids in school. The reason for this is two fold really. 1. All the local meetings in my area (Swansea) are in the day and therefor I woud not be getting any value for money if I could not even attend one meeting. It really bars the way for younger people in full time employment (I am 35) 2. Everything produced in our ara is very twee and the collective age is quite above my own and every time I have attended a meeting with a speaker (paid as a non member) I have felt really out of touch with the other people there as I am at least 20 years younger than most. There MUST be some way to get in younger people I feel I have nothing in common with the guild and that is such a shame as I really would love to be a member I think it is such a valuable way to share and learn. Hope you don't mind this feedback. I also echo Trekky's sentiments
